How to doodle

Getting started

1. Open Doodle! — the canvas fills the screen.
2. Draw with your mouse, trackpad, or finger.
3. Press Esc to bring back the menu (Drafts, Save, Publish, navigation).
4. When you are ready, choose Publish from the menu and add an optional caption.

Tools

Your active tool sits in the bottom-left corner of the paper, tinted to your current color.

• Hover or tap the tool icon to open the full tool row.
• Double-click the tool icon for a pinned picker (tap outside to close).
• Tab opens the tool row and highlights the next tool; press again to keep cycling. Enter or click to select.
• Keys 1–9 jump to a tool directly. 8 is the fill bucket.
• E toggles the eraser; press again to restore your previous tool.

Color

The palette icon in the bottom-right shows your active color. Click it to open the color picker.

• Click or drag on the rainbow square to pick hue and saturation.
• Use the hue strip below for fine hue control.
• The Eyedropper samples any color on your screen — move off the picker and click the color you want.
• C opens the picker from the keyboard.

Brush size

There is no size slider — size is adjusted in context on the canvas.

• Scroll on the paper to make the brush larger or smaller. A brief circle at your cursor shows the new size.
• [ and ] (or arrow keys) nudge size up and down.

Zoom & full canvas

Zoom controls sit in the top-right corner of the paper. Just under them is the expand/contract button — tap it (or press Esc) to hide or show the header and footer so you can draw full-bleed, then get the menu back anytime.

• ⌘ + / ⌘ − zoom in and out.
• ⌘ 0 resets to 100%.
• Pinch with two fingers on a trackpad or touchscreen.

Pages & drafts

• Your work autosaves as you draw (locally, and to the cloud when you are signed in).
• Open Drafts from the menu to resume unfinished work. Use ⌘⌫ to clear the page.
